The Landbote celebrates its 175th anniversary
The first issue of the Landbote was published on March 24, 1836. Today, the newspaper is celebrating its 175th anniversary.
The Landbote will be published on March 24, 2011 with an anniversary supplement that reviews the history of its origins and 175 years, according to a press release. Over the course of the anniversary year, six monothematic magazines on specific Winterthur topics will be published. The first will be published on May 21 and is entitled "Global". The other supplements are planned for the beginning of July, end of August, beginning of October, mid-November and December 24. They will be dedicated to the topics "Young", "Family", "Sound", "Winterthur West" and "Holy".
The Landbote, Tagblatt von Winterthur und Umgebung, is the local newspaper for the city of Winterthur and 70 municipalities in the catchment area of Switzerland's sixth-largest city. It is published today with a circulation of around 33,000 copies and reaches a good 60,000 readers every day. The Landbote belongs to the Ziegler Druck- und Verlags-AG company. This is owned by just under 40 shareholders. 80 percent of the shares are held by members of the fourth, fifth and sixth generations of the Ziegler family, with the remainder held by Zurich-based Tamedia since 2005.
