The Messenger gets a new editor-in-chief
The Blick Group's head of politics, Jürg Auf der Maur, is moving to Schwyz to become editor-in-chief of the Boten der Urschweiz again in 2014. He already held this post from 1993 to 2000.
The 52-year-old Auf der Maur has been Head of Politics in the Blick Group newsroom for a year. He is now returning to his roots, as the daily newspaper Bote der Urschweiz reported on Tuesday. The doctor of history from Goldau SZ was editor-in-chief of the Bote from 1993 to 2000 and a member of the management team. He then headed the domestic section of the Neue Luzerner Zeitung. From 2008 to 2012, he was chief reporter for Zentralschweiz am Sonntag before moving to Blick. Auf der Mauer announced his move on Twitter with the words "Back to the roots". It is not yet clear when he will take up his new position. Acting Editor-in-Chief Josias Clavadetscher took over the position from Auf der Maur 13 years ago. Clavadetscher will retire in summer 2014. However, he intends to continue writing for the Boten as a freelance journalist.
Bote now cooperates with the Neue Luzerner Zeitung
From 2014, after 16 years, the Bote der Urschweiz will no longer be part of the Südostschweiz publishing group (Werbewoche.ch reported). The paper moves to the Neue Luzerner Zeitung, which belongs to the NZZ Group. As a result of the cooperation between the Boten and the Neue Luzerner Zeitung, the smaller Neue Schwyzer Zeitung (Werbewoche.ch reported). The five jobs affected are to be integrated into the existing editorial offices. In future, the Bote will take over the national editorial section and the national advertisements from the Neue Luzerner Zeitung. The focus of the regional section will remain unchanged.
As a result of the incorporation, the newspaper should be able to increase its circulation from 15,000 to over 16,000 copies and reach over 70 percent of households in the Schwyz region every day. The circulation of the entire edition of the Neue Luzerner Zeitung is expected to increase to around 130,000 copies. Bote publisher Hugo Triner wants to continue the 155-year-old family tradition of Bote publishers. The publishing rights to the Bote der Urschweiz are to be transferred to a new foundation. (SDA)
