Daniel Merkle becomes CEO of Radio Zürisee
Matthias Kost, who headed Radio Zürisee for nine years, is handing over the operational management to the previous program director Daniel Merkle.
Matthias Kost worked for Radio Zürisee for a total of 22 years - first as Head of Marketing, then and for the past nine years as CEO. Under his leadership, the station has reportedly developed into the market leader in the greater Zurich/Lake Zurich area despite a challenging market and media environment and has provided important impetus for the future.
The 53-year-old now wants to change career direction. However, he will remain strategically involved with the station as Delegate of the Board of Directors. "We would like to thank Matthias Kost for the years we have spent together, his exceptional leadership and his flair for inspiring people. We also appreciate the incomparable level of trust that has characterized our collaboration. Together, we have made Radio Zürisee a success story - and we are deeply grateful to him for this", said Fabian Villiger, Chairman of the Board of Directors, in a press release.
Daniel Merkle, Program Director of Radio Zürisee since 1 July 2024, will take over the management as of 1 July 2025. He previously worked at CH Media in the REM division (radio, online, TV) and as Program Manager at FM1 in St. Gallen.
The 40-year-old radio professional Merkle began his career at Antenne 1 in Stuttgart, later worked at Radio Regenbogen and joined FM1 in Switzerland in 2012. In addition to his work in the radio sector, he has continued his education in marketing, communications management and leadership and completed an Executive MBA in Digital Transformation at the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden in 2024.
