Catherine Müller and Reto Schlatter new at UBI

The Federal Council has appointed attorney Catherine Müller and journalism instructor Reto Schlatter to the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI). They replace Alice Reichmuth Pfammatter and Heiner Käppeli.

Because their terms of office are expiring, Alice Reichmuth Pfammatter will leave the UBI at the end of 2013 and Heiner Käppeli at the end of 2014. The Federal Council has now appointed their successors.

Catherine Müller is a lawyer in Olten. She will take up her duties at the UBI on January 1, 2014.

Reto Schlatter is head of studies at the MAZ in Lucerne, where he is responsible for continuing education and leadership training. In addition, the 49-year-old works as an independent media trainer and organizational consultant and lectures at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and at the Henri Nannen School of Journalism in Hamburg. Previously, he was domestic editor at the Schaffhauser Nachrichten, head of the domestic department of the Neue Luzerner Zeitung and deputy editor-in-chief of the Handelszeitung. He completed his studies in law with a licentiate. He lives in Wädenswil. He will start his work at the UBI on January 1, 2015.

The UBI is an extra-parliamentary commission of the federal government that assesses complaints against radio and television broadcasts.
