Caroline Thoma leaves the Blick Group

Caroline Thoma, CEO of the Blick Group, is leaving the company at her own request. Florian Fels, CEO Publishing at Ringier, will take over the management of the Blick Group in addition to his duties as of April 1, 2013.

Caroline Thoma had taken over the management of the Blick Group in 2009. In this role, she was a member of the management of Ringier Switzerland, later Publishing Ringier. In 2010, Thoma led the Blick Group into the Integrated Newsroom and decisively advanced the group's digital offensive, according to a Ringier statement.

Under the leadership of Caroline Thoma, the Blick applications for smartphones and tablets, such as the Blick HD app for the iPad and the Blick TV app, were successfully implemented. In addition, the Blick Group entered the e-commerce business with Blick plus, cooperations with well-known partners were expanded, and the Blick publishing house was reorganized overall, Ringier said. In addition, Blick am Abend's distribution network was overhauled nationally. Caroline Thoma has also been responsible for analyses in the Paid Content project, including strategy recommendations, in recent months. She is leaving the Blick Group at her own request to take on a new challenge, the statement said.

Florian Fels, CEO Publishing of Ringier, will take over the management of the Blick Group directly as of April 1, 2013, in addition to his other duties, and will thus assume responsibility for the print titles Blick, Sonntagsblick, Blick am Abend and the online news platform Blick.ch.
