Bild launches its own TV station
A little over a month before the federal election in Germany, the country’s highest-circulation daily newspaper is launching its own television channel on Sunday. When the tabloid *Bild*’s TV channel goes on the air, it is expected to be available free of charge and unencrypted to about 85 percent of German households with television. The channel is funded by advertising.
The central program offering is to be the "Picture live" which will run from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 14:00. In addition, the 24-hour program will feature live broadcasts on politics, sport, shows and service topics as well as reports and documentaries.
The Image-newspaper reaches over eight million readers. The national newspaper, which has been published by Axel Springer-Verlag since 1952, was the highest-circulation daily newspaper in Europe for a long time. Like other newspapers, it has been struggling with declining circulation for years. The digital website Bild.de is the most visited news site in Germany. (SDA)
