Bignasca's party newspaper to disappear from Ticino schools
About 150 teachers, politicians, and artists in Ticino have joined a campaign to ban Giuliano Bignasca’s Sunday newspaper, *Il mattino della Domenica*, from schools. Today, Friday, they placed a full-page ad in the daily newspaper *Corriere del Ticino*.
According to the campaign text, the Sunday newspaper Il mattino della Domenica is not compatible with the values to be taught to children. It is legitimate to criticize institutions and politicians of a different opinion. However, the tone of the Sunday paper would be limited exclusively to threatening, insulting and mocking dissenters. This would give young people a completely false picture of social interaction. Women, foreigners and intellectuals are often the target of the linguistically vulgar attacks.
The appeal also includes the names of Councillor of States Dick Marty, artist Gardi Hutter and writer Alberto Nessi. The appeal is aimed at everyone working in the school sector, from head teachers to teaching staff. The aim of the appeal is to prevent the newspaper, which reaches schools by post, from continuing to be displayed there. Teachers who discuss this issue in class are thanked. Readers are called upon to join the campaign with signatures and possible donations. (sda)
