Bavaria Film and Meteomedia plan joint production of weather programs

The Bavaria Film Group and Meteomedia are planning to work together from the beginning of 2012 to produce weather programs for television and other customers. The two companies have agreed on this in a letter of intent.

Bavaria Film and Meteomedia have set themselves the goal of further developing this business area together and contributing their respective core competencies. As a production and service company, Bavaria Film will assume responsibility for its core competencies, the production, technical realization and distribution of the broadcasts. As a weather service provider, Meteomedia will be responsible for measuring, evaluating, interpreting and graphically processing the data, i.e. for the content of the weather programs and providing the weather information and forecasts.

As a European weather service provider, Meteomedia has a close-knit weather station measurement network with around 830 stations across Europe. Meteomedia uses data from over 17,000 stations worldwide, and the number is rising. The numerous local measurements are combined with the most finely meshed forecast models. Bavaria Film and Meteomedia are convinced that this partnership will enable them to offer high-quality weather broadcasts for customers in Germany and elsewhere, according to a statement from the two companies.

The metereologist and founder of Meteomedia appeared before the media again on Friday at Zurich Airport for the first time since his acquittal in court. The topic of the media appearance: "Jörg Kachelmann's Meteomedia company - a look into the future".
