Basler Zeitung Medien: Pension Fund Restructuring
In light of its persistent funding shortfall, the Basler Zeitung Medien pension fund must be restructured. The board of trustees of the pension fund has approved restructuring contributions of 4.5 percent each for employees and employers.
The measure is planned for seven years according to the restructuring plan. Employees were informed about the wage deduction this week, foundation board president Markus Herren confirmed to SDA information from Radio DRS's Regionaljournal Basel on Friday. According to Herren, the core problem of the fund is that the necessary interest cannot be earned at the moment. The reason is the situation on the capital market as well as the unfavorable ratio of pensioners and active employees at the pension fund.
