Basler Zeitung Medien outsources printing operations

On April 1, Basler Zeitung Medien will establish the independent company Die Zeitungsdrucker together with the former BaZ printing division. All employees of the former printing center of the Basler Zeitung are taken over in full by the company.

The new joint stock company, with state-of-the-art newspaper printing and processing facilities at Hochbergerstrasse 15 in Basel, is thus set to become the most important newspaper printing company in northwestern Switzerland, according to a statement from Basler Zeitung Medien. Felix Bitterli, the former head of the Basler Zeitung printing center, will be responsible as chairman of the management board. The company employs 102 people.

The company's Board of Directors comprises Moritz Suter, Chairman, Beat Meyer, Vice Chairman, Marcus Herren, CFO National Zeitungen and Basler Nachrichten, and Daniel Merkel, Managing Director Birkhäuser+GBC. Basler Zeitung Medien thus stands on three pillars as of April 1: National Zeitung and Basler Nachrichten, with the "Basler Zeitung" publishing house and its marketing and subsidiary companies, Birkhäuser+GBC and Die Zeitungsdrucker. All three companies are wholly owned by Basler Zeitung Medien.
