Axel Springer brings a woman onto the Management Board for the first time

In response to increasing digitalization, Axel Springer is expanding its Executive Board and, for the first time since its founding in 1946, appointing a woman to the Group’s leadership. Stephanie Caspar will take over the newly created Technology and Data division effective March 1.

This was announced by the publisher of Image and World announced on Tuesday. The 44-year-old will also remain responsible for the national digital media business. "For the first time at Axel Springer, the overarching technology and data strategy is thus firmly anchored at Executive Board level," it said. In addition to CEO Mathias Döpfner, the Executive Board includes Julian Deutz (Finance), Jan Bayer (Media) and Andreas Wiele (Classified Ad Models). Caspar has worked for Springer since 2013 and most recently oversaw the reorganization of the World-Group and the merger with broadcaster N24. Caspar started her career as a management consultant at McKinsey and later also worked for the online auction house Ebay and Immobilienscout24. In 2009, she founded the online retailer Mirapodo.
