Analog signal in the Bern area is switched off

The era of analog television is also coming to an end in the Bern region: UPC Cablecom will shut down the remaining 18 analog channels in April, the company announced on Thursday.

In the Bern region - as well as in Murten and Spiez - a total of 12 channels will be taken off the air on April 21. One week later, the remaining 6 channels will disappear, including SRF 1, SRF 2, SRF Info and TeleBärn. According to the communiqué, comparatively few customers will be affected by the change - namely those who still use an older television set without a DVB-C tuner, for example a tube television or a flat screen with a production date before 2010. These customers will have to take action if they want to continue watching TV. UPC Cablecom primarily recommends that they purchase a modern television set with an integrated DVB-C tuner. A device for converting digital to analog signals is also available free of charge from UPC Cablecom. The company will completely discontinue analog TV in Switzerland by mid-2015. Central Switzerland was the first region to go fully digital last November. (SDA)
