Academies of Sciences and Humanities award Prix Média 2010
On Wednesday, the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences awarded the Prix Média 2010 for successful knowledge transfer in Fribourg. The prize, worth a total of CHF 40,000, is shared by one article, one television and four radio reports.
Patrik Tschudin from Radio DRS 2 was honored in the natural sciences category for a report on the hormone-active chemical BPA. In the humanities and social sciences category, Alexandre Lachavanne and Jean-Daniel Bohnenblust from TSR 1 television in French-speaking Switzerland received the prize for a program on work as a cause of illness, according to a press release.
In the Medicine category, two pieces of work particularly impressed the jury: Irène Dietschi's article on prostate cancer in the magazine Das Magazin and a contribution by Regula Zehnder on Radio DRS 1 on the subject of organ transplantation. The prize in the Technical Sciences category was also shared by two journalists: Sarah Dirren from the French-speaking Swiss radio station RSR 1 was honored for a report on a geothermal energy project in Valais, and Natalie Bougeard (also from RSR 1) for a report on the rare metal indium.
