30 years of Radio Basilisk

On November 1, 1983 at the stroke of midnight, Radio Basilisk went on air for the first time. Basilisk celebrates its birthday with on-air activities and an open day.

"Ändlig. On Saturday, November 1, 1983 - it's twelve o'clock in the evening - it's Radio Basilisk, s' Basler Radio". With these words, the then editor-in-chief and Basilisk founder Christian Heeb greeted listeners at the start of the broadcast. After the first presentation, the Basilisk program started with the song "Let's find each other tonight" by José Feliciano.

Open day

Radio Basilisk began broadcasting from Rittergasse 33 in 1983 and only moved to Fischmarkt a year later, where the studio is still located today. To mark its anniversary, Basilisk is now inviting its listeners to this studio. On Saturday, November 2, 2013, they will be able to visit the studios, learn all about music programming, feature design and commercial production and even make their own radio show and take their personal radio presentation home with them.

Hit parade from the past

Just one day earlier - on its actual birthday - Radio Basilisk sounds like it did thirty years ago (with the exception of the music). The original jingles from the 1980s will be used as the broadcast layout on November 1, 2013, and the news bulletin and the one-minute Basilisk song immediately before the prime time news will also return to the program. In an anniversary program on Friday from 18:00 to 21:00, the former Basilisk producers will present the annual hit parade from 1983.
