20 minutes takes over Planet 105

Tamedia's commuter media division plans to acquire the youth radio station Planet 105 and intends to integrate it into 20 Minuten's online music radio service.

Tamedia's Commuter Media division plans to take over the youth station Planet 105 from Radio 1 and incorporate it into "20 Minuten Music. The aim is to strengthen and further develop 20 Minuten's online music radio, which was launched in 2017, by means of additional distribution via FM and DAB+ and the expansion of the editorial offering. 

The current presenter and editorial team at Planet 105 will oversee the station's operations on behalf of Tamedia and produce the journalistic features and curate the music in collaboration with the 20 Minutes editorial team. Instead of classic news formats, listeners will be offered a varied program of shows, podcasts and instant news flashes with current or popular stories on 20 minutes be offered. 

Planet 105 has significantly increased its daily listeners from 70,000 to 100,000 in recent years. With the integration into 20 Minuten, Planet 105 will now be available via all online channels of Switzerland's widest-reach media brand. Tamedia's acquisition of Planet 105 is subject to the approval of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (Uvek), the Federal Office of Communications (Bakom) and the Federal Competition Commission (Weko). The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
