1700 signatures for the Rhaeto-Romanic daily newspaper La Quotidiana
1,700 people have signed a petition in support of keeping the Romansh daily newspaper *La Quotidiana* in circulation. The paper, with a circulation of 4,000 copies, is in trouble and fighting for its survival.

The 1700 signatures are a strong sign of solidarity and sympathy for La Quotidiana, the five initiators of the "pro quotidiana" appeal announced on Monday. They include the former federal judge Giusep Nay. The signatures were published on the Internet on the Proquotidiana.ch have been collected (screenshot above).
The quintet went on to write that they hoped that the people and institutions responsible would continue their work with vigor and an open mind. It was a matter of taking a new path towards a secure future for a Romansh daily newspaper. A step back towards regionalism would endanger coexistence and make the development of a strong and self-confident Rumantschia more difficult.
The future publication of the only Rhaeto-Romanic daily newspaper is hanging in the balance due to financial problems. Four partners recently raised CHF 200,000 so that the newspaper can at least continue to be published in 2018.
In addition, the "Medias rumantschas 2019" project will be launched at the beginning of September under the auspices of the Romansh umbrella language association Lia Rumantscha. The aim is to develop a suitable future media offering in Romansh.
Like Werbewoche, La Quotidiana is published by the Chur-based media company Somedia. (SDA/hae)
