Advertising sales Contrary to what was announced, the Advertising Index Switzerland (AIS), Wemf's advertising sales statistics, is not able to report gross invoiced figures for the TV medium, but only gross-to-gross figures - like competitor Media Focus (MF). Wemf informed its customers of this. The reason: A major advertising client has refused, via its agency, to provide the gross invoiced figures because freespace and discounts could be roughly derived from a comparison of the AIS and MF figures. "Unfortunately, the medium of TV does not demand transparency - but we cannot go against the market," regrets AIS project manager Hans-Jürg Gränicher on request.
Nevertheless, the AIS can now report cinema advertising revenues - also only gross-to-gross. For the media categories print, poster, online, radio and teletext, however, the invoiced gross figure remains unchanged. As a result, the AIS will not be able to show total advertising sales or market shares. Gränicher: "We have not achieved our goal of realizing better media statistics."
