Ten years are enough: Migros re-dresses sales staff

After more than ten years, sales staff at Migros stores are getting new uniforms. Swiss designer Ida Gut was once again commissioned to develop the design. The transition will be completed in all stores by the end of the year.

With their shirts and blouses in the color paprika and the distinctive orange stripe on the arm, the branch employees have shaped Migros' corporate identity for twelve years in a sporty, elegant look. Now it is time to renew the workwear again. Because the previous collection has proven itself in style and message, the new clothing is not a new development in terms of design and materials, but an evolution of the existing. The current workwear was already designed by Ida Gut, the renowned Swiss fashion designer.

From paprika to garnet, the new color

The most striking change is in the new color scheme of the outerwear. Garnet, a fresh iridescent color of dark red and orange like pomegranates, is an actual variation of the previous basic colors. These were renewed by arranging the same threads differently in the fabric development. The orange Migros stripe is now complemented by a color gradient, so that this already familiar element is found again in the new design.

The clothing is also being renewed in the catering area of Migros restaurants and takeaways. Here, an elegant anthracite dominates, also with the Migros stripe on the upper arm. In the in-house bakeries, the bakers now wear white with a gray apron.

"Our employees should not only feel comfortable in the new clothing, they should also like themselves in them - after all, they are our company's calling card," says Herbert Bolliger, President of the General Management of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives. In total, the new collection consists of 31 pieces, including ties, foulards, chef's and baker's hats, T-shirts and aprons. Shirts and blouses are produced from 100 percent cotton.
