Text association dissolves after 44 years

At the online general meeting on February 11, 2026, the board and members came to the conclusion to initiate the dissolution of the Text Association with immediate effect. The decision to dissolve is not an end out of the blue.

Difficult framework conditions

At the end of November 2025, the association reported on the increasingly difficult external and internal conditions for its continuation: change and reorientation of the profession, declining number of members, vacant office, vacant presidency, reduced board and precarious financial situation. The Executive Board invited members to an extraordinary general meeting at the beginning of December to vote on the dissolution of the association.

Failed plan B

One member offered to take on the dual role of Managing Director and Chairman from April 2026 and put forward the idea of a "Plan B". This plan and the person were presented to the participating members. As a result, 27 members voted in favor of continuing the association.

The tide turned again at the beginning of February: the member who had wanted to join informed the Board of Directors and the Managing Director on February 5, 2026, without prior notice, that he was withdrawing his offer. The Board then decided to initiate the dissolution and invite the members to support this final decision. 34 voted in favor of dissolution.

Text remains

The association regrets the dissolution of the Text Association in its 44th year. At that time, the introduction of the Mac and personal computers led to dramatic changes in the communications industry and thus to the career prospects of copywriters. Just as artificial intelligence is doing today. Nevertheless, the association is convinced that text is here to stay.

The textverband.ch website with its pool of copywriters will remain online until around mid-June.
