Swiss' first Airbus A350 was ceremoniously christened "Lausanne" in Zurich on Tuesday. The aircraft, which bears the registration HB-IFA, is also the first in the SWISS fleet to be fitted with the completely redesigned "SWISS Senses" cabin interior.

A special moment for tennis star Stan Wawrinka: together with aviation fan Rayan Favre, the Lausanne-born sportsman took over the godparenthood of the airline's most modern jet. "I'm enormously proud to be the godfather of the first SWISS A350," says Wawrinka. "Especially because it bears the name of my home town. That means a lot to me."

The A350 has a special design: the special "SWISS Wanderlust" livery combines iconic places and cultural motifs from Switzerland. "We are dedicating this aircraft with its special design to the whole of Switzerland," explains SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger. The airline is currently investing around one billion Swiss francs a year in its future - in new aircraft, state-of-the-art cabins and more sustainable technologies.

The new "SWISS Senses" cabin interior sets standards in all travel classes. In First Class, guests can expect private suites with their own door. Business Class has been completely redesigned and offers different types of seats for different needs. Premium Economy and Economy Class also benefit from greater comfort and state-of-the-art entertainment technology.

The A350's first passenger flight will be to Palma de Mallorca on October 25, 2025, followed by the first long-haul flight to Boston on November 20. SWISS will take delivery of a total of ten A350-900s by 2031, which will replace the existing A340 fleet and reduce CO₂ emissions by around 25 percent.
