Swiss Digital Transformation Award 2016: Shortlist

Which company has made the greatest digital-related progress in recent months? The "Swiss Digital Transformation Award" will be presented for the second time this year.

The challenges of digitization are relevant to all companies, organizations and industries, and are often enormous. It is also becoming increasingly clear that the process of change is ongoing and accelerating, and that it has a profound and disruptive dimension.

The "Swiss Digital Transformation Award" will be presented for the second time on April 7 - as part of the "Best of Swiss Web" award night - to those companies that have made particular progress in digital maturity in recent months. The basis for determining the winners is, on the one hand, the self-declaration of the participating companies in the "Digital Maturity Check", the maturity model developed by the University of St. Gallen and a group of experts; on the other hand, the multi-stage in-depth analysis of a jury of experts.

The study and the award not only honor the best, but the results are also intended to sensitize companies and decision-makers to the fact that digital transformation is only the beginning and that a constant, intensive change process must be established in every company. In addition, the major changes in society and the economy are not only driven by information technologies. In addition to the advent of the Internet, mobile networks, and smart devices and valuable mountains of data, advances in other technological areas are just as important and comprehensive.

However, precisely because IT is increasingly being used in diverse combinations with processes, products and other technologies - for example in the healthcare sector or the automotive industry - the importance of digitization is becoming even more apparent. In order to get to the bottom of these complex interrelationships even more, the catalog of questions in the "Digital Maturity Model" was expanded for this year's survey by the University of St. Gallen and a group of experts: In a total of nine dimensions, such as "Strategy" or "Process Digitization" as well as "ICT Development and Operation" or "Customer Experience," the participating companies answer around 90 questions in detail. The weighting, analysis and evaluation of the answers ultimately leads to a comprehensive picture of the individual digital maturity of a company and also allows a comparison with best practice.

The result over the years is not just a representation of the current state of digital transformation in individual companies and industries, but an overview of the disruptive, far-reaching dimensions and challenges, i.e., a kind of "constant disruption.
