In addition to its main program with film, lifestyle and entertainment, Star TV wants to operate a second channel with interactive games and services: Star Games, as the new channel will be called, will allow viewers to take part in collective video games on the screen via telephone or the Internet. "Viewers in Zurich can play virtual football against viewers in Bern," says Paul Grau, CEO and main shareholder of Star TV, explaining the new possibilities. However, the actual aim of the new channel is to give all viewers access to interactive services, which will also include information, entertainment and commerce content in the future.Star TV submitted a license application for the realization of Star Games to the Federal Office of Communications at the beginning of October. Star TV expects to receive the special license for "experiments with new technologies" for a limited period of three years. (mk)
