SFLB: "Holidays without Facebook" launched for Switzerland Tourism
Innovative Facebook campaign for online junkies: the prize is a summer vacation without internet or cell phone reception - in a remote Swiss mountain hut. A relaxing vacation in pure nature guaranteed.
People are spending more and more time online. Now also on the move. For example, 1 million Swiss people surf the internet every day while on the move. "We want to show them that there is a whole other world than the online world - and it is much more relaxing," said Jürg Schmid, Director of Switzerland Tourism, in a press release. This is why Switzerland Tourism is running a major online campaign to give away vacations without Internet and cell phone reception. The prize is a week in the Seewli Hut in the canton of Uri. "There really is no cell phone reception there, let alone Internet," says Schmid. Nevertheless, the hut is never boring. There is a beautiful mountain lake nearby, lots of hiking opportunities and, above all, the winner of the competition can take ten Facebook friends with them. They might even become real friends in the mountain hut.
According to the press release, the "Holidays without Facebook" campaign is aimed at online junkies and is therefore also taking place online. Via Vacationwithoutinternet.ch Facebook users can connect with Sebi and Paul the two rustic mountain dwellers from last year's Steinträger and this year's Städtespot. Once you are connected to them, Sebi and Paul analyze your personal Facebook profile on their laptops: what you have posted recently or what pictures you have put online are revealed. Depending on personal usage behavior, the two then recommend the user to take part in the competition and take a vacation without the Internet. Or they give the user the most active Facebook friend who would benefit from a while without the Internet or a cell phone.
The campaign was created and implemented by Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett and the social media production company Smly.
