Swiss Kick-Off of the Marketing Natives

The Marketing Natives community and event series was brought to Zurich by the SDV (Swiss Direct Marketing Association) in early 2013 and kicked off on May 13, 2013, with its first event in Zurich on the topic of «Creativity in Marketing.».

Marketing Natives Community was founded in Vienna in 2011 as a community for young marketing students and young professionals aged 20 to around 30. With the goal of offering young marketeers a springboard for their careers, Marketing Natives has quickly become one of the most successful marketing communities in the German-speaking world, according to a statement.

SDV President Milo Stössel is fully satisfied with the kick-off event: "An exciting event by young people for young people with a cool and great atmosphere." Nils Hafner, customer relationship marketing expert and professor at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, spoke about the balance between communication efficiency and bullshit bingo! Especially in times of shrinking budgets, efficiency and effectiveness of campaigns are becoming more and more necessary, and competition is perceived to be tougher. It is therefore important that customers not only experience and evaluate the product, but also recommend it to others - a long-term, happy customer relationship must be strived for.

According to Gordon Nemitz, Executive Strategy Director at Wirz, the secret to a successful creative campaign is courage. Too many branders ask themselves the question of feasibility as early as the campaign conception stage, thereby discarding unique ideas.

Niko Alm - "The Man with the Pasta Strainer" - also had a unique idea. When he applied for his new driver's license in 2008, he stumbled across an exemption: for religious reasons, headgear was allowed on the driver's license photo. As a follower of the "Flying Spaghetti Monster," it is therefore virtually his duty to wear a pasta strainer in official photos. The story went around the world - Der Spiegel, BBC and even CNN reported on the pastafarian. With his Austrian agency Super-fi, Alm is responsible for numerous creative online campaigns. The three pillars of a successful campaign? Reach, relevance and reputation.
