Switzerland Tourism appoints new Market Manager India

To ensure comprehensive coverage of India, a key source market for tourism here, Switzerland Tourism has appointed Claudio Zemp as its new Market Manager for India. He will begin his duties in Mumbai on May 1, 2015.

According to the press release, the 41-year-old is a proven tourism and marketing expert with many years of international experience. At the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau (SCIB) in London, Zemp was most recently responsible for the United Kingdom and Ireland markets on behalf of Switzerland Tourism (ST). Prior to that, he worked for ten years for the Switzerland Travel Center STC as Aviation Manager, also in London. Further stations in his worldwide professional experience include his roles as a travel consultant at STA Travel in Auckland and as a senior sales consultant at Trottomundo in Zurich.

India occupies an important position in ST's market portfolio in the group of strategic growth markets: the aim is to maintain the strong growth of recent years*. The starting point for this is good: Switzerland is still one of the most sought-after destinations in Europe for Indian travelers. This is mainly due to the snow experience, which is possible 365 days a year, the good accessibility with daily direct flights from Mumbai and Delhi, the charming landscape and the potential with a younger clientele that is increasingly interested in active vacations.

Zemp will start in Mumbai on May 1, 2015, taking over from Stephan Heuberger, who is moving to ST's headquarters as Project Manager in Content Management. In India, Zemp will lead a team of four employees in Mumbai and Delhi.
