Silence around RMBI
The final breakup of Régie Media Belge International (RMBI) appears to be imminent.
The definitive split-up of Régie Media Belge International (RMBI) is apparently imminent, according to the Brussels-based newspaper La Libre Belgique (LB), updating a report in WerbeWoche (8/02). Citing "very good sources", LB writes that the spin-off of the Swiss and Austrian RMB subsidiaries will soon be completed. This week, the rest of the network (around 10 other subsidiaries) will also be sold - to the French electronics manufacturer Thomson Multimedia, which has joined forces with the British Carlton Group for this purpose. No comment was available from RMBI. Thomson is also remaining silent. Matthias Luchsinger, CEO of RMB Switzerland, also refused to confirm the new announcement. As Area Manager Central Europe, who is involved in negotiations on behalf of RMBI, he has not yet seen a signed contract, he merely said. (mk)
