Multimedia Content Creator: New Certification for Digital Professionals
The Swissfilm Association and ICT Vocational Training Switzerland are launching the federal professional certificate «Multimedia Content Creator»—a new occupational profile with uniform standards for audiovisual content production.

Multimedia Content Creator: A Professionally Recognized Career Path with Federal Certification
The Swissfilm Association, in collaboration with ICT Vocational Training Switzerland, has developed a new professional certification: the federal certificate «Multimedia Content Creator.» The goal is to establish, for the first time, a recognized professional profile that addresses the growing demand for professional multimedia content in the communications industry.
According to the announcement, multimedia content creators are professionals who specialize in the conception, production, and post-production of audiovisual content. They translate complex topics into formats tailored to specific target audiences and adapt content for various communication channels. Creativity, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of marketing and current trends are central to their work.
«For years, we have observed a rapidly growing demand for video content in the communications industry. To maintain a consistent online presence, companies need specialists who can produce professional multimedia content quickly, efficiently, and tailored to specific channels. The Multimedia Content Creator certification addresses this need and, for the first time, establishes uniform standards and provides clear guidance for companies seeking this professional profile,» said Michel Alraun, CEO of Maybaum Film and board member of the Swissfilm Association.
From Concept to Post-Production
The new professional certification program certifies professionals who can independently plan and execute the entire production process—from concept to post-production. Typical areas of employment include large corporations, SMEs, advertising agencies, production companies, and media companies, where they are expected to play a key role in the development and implementation of communication formats.
The call for exam registration will be issued in July 2026. The first round of federal exams is scheduled for January 2027. To prepare, candidates typically enroll in relevant continuing education courses, which can be taken while working and usually last two to three semesters. Various schools in different parts of the country already offer preparatory courses.
Wide-ranging industry participation in the development
According to Stefan Bircher, a founding partner of Shining Film, the content of the professional certification was developed in close collaboration with the SWA, the LSA, and the ADC. «The SWA and the LSA also serve on the examination board,» said Bircher.
The Swissfilm Association—the association of Swiss commissioned film producers—and ICT Vocational Training Switzerland are the sponsoring organizations for the federal professional certificate. Through this initiative, the sponsoring organizations aim to strengthen support for emerging talent and advance the professionalization of audiovisual content production in Switzerland.
