Enjoy April 1st with Gecko-Emmentaler

The Swiss farmer has announced a tasting of a Gecko cheese on the Bundesplatz in Bern today, April 1, from 2 to 4 pm. The gecko cheese was initiated by Spillmann Felser Leo Burnett for Emmentaler.

Fly-eating gecko lizards are to be placed on cows so that the cows are less stressed. Apparently, this will further improve the quality of Emmentaler AOC. The Swiss farmer has now announced a tasting of this gecko cheese on the Bundesplatz in Bern today, April 1, from 2 to 4 pm:

"Gecko Emmental tastes more harmonious"

Was it a tasting session or just a big April laughter on the Bundesplatz waiting for curious people and cheese lovers? And people came in droves to try the new cheese - according to DRS 1, over 1,000 people accepted the invitation. "Although many consumers found the technology interesting, they preferred the traditional Swiss Emmentaler," explains Emmentaler Switzerland media spokesperson Christoph Stadelmann.

The Gecko technology was an April Fool's joke; Emmentaler with Gecko technology will not be launched on the market for the time being. However, it is true that Emmentaler Switzerland is indeed working intensively with the ALP research institute to further improve the quality of the milk and cheese. It is also true that Emmentaler Switzerland is working on new products: "We will be presenting Switzerland with a very special product on August 1, 2012," confirms Christoph Stadelmann. "You can already look forward to August 1, 2012!"
