At the end of May, Martin Fleischhacker (50) will move from the top of Wiener Zeitung to the management of CNBC DACH, where he will take over the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Following the transformation of Wiener Zeitung, the long-standing media manager will help shape the development of the new DACH platform for business and financial journalism.

Experience in strategic transformation

Fleischhacker has been Managing Director of Wiener Zeitung since 2018 and previously held several management positions at the company. Under his leadership, Wiener Zeitung was strategically realigned in a far-reaching transformation process. The media group established new business areas, further developed Wiener Zeitung into a digital medium and set new content and structural priorities with initiatives such as Media Hub Austria, Media Innovation Lab and EVI.

With Fleischhacker, CNBC DACH has gained an experienced manager with extensive expertise in the strategic transformation of media companies and the development of sustainable business models. «I led the Wiener Zeitung during a phase of fundamental change. The move to CNBC DACH is the next logical step for me: from restructuring a traditional newspaper to building a DACH platform for business and financial journalism,» explains Fleischhacker.

24/7 multi-platform for the DACH region

CNBC DACH is positioning itself as a German-language 24/7 multi-platform for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The plan is to offer TV, digital formats, social media, podcasts, live events and a print magazine for subscribers. Editorial offices are planned in Vienna, Frankfurt and Zurich. The platform is aimed at CEOs, CFOs, decision-makers, investors and capital market participants and interested parties in German-speaking countries.

«The DACH region needs a business journalism offering that combines regional relevance with an international perspective. I am excited by the task of helping to build a media project that rethinks economic orientation, technological scalability and journalistic quality,» says Martin Fleischhacker.

«With Martin Fleischhacker, we are bringing on board an experienced strategist for media transformation who will play a decisive role in shaping the development of CNBC DACH and taking it to the next level,» says Rusmir Nefic, CEO of CNBC DACH.

Growing demand for business journalism

For Fleischhacker, the change is also a continuation of his previous work in terms of content. In Switzerland, almost every second person now invests in securities; at the same time, the willingness to pay for online news has recently increased significantly. An environment in which economic participation and the need for reliable classification continue to grow therefore speaks for specialized economic and financial reporting.

CNBC DACH is developed by C-DACH Business News Holding with the main investors Alexander Schütz, Benjamin Lakatos and Rusmir Nefic. Further information can be found at www.cnbc.com.
