"Line 19": everything you need to know about the future of the new "Waldenburgerli
The «Waldenburgerli,» Europe’s narrowest narrow-gauge railway, has big plans: by 2022, it will be completely renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art trains. The BLT (Baselland Transport) magazine «Linie 19,» conceived and designed by Crbasel, will keep the public regularly informed about the project’s progress.

The Waldenburg Valley has always been a region of pioneers, for example in the watch industry or later for the production of prostheses. The "Waldenburgerli" can also lay claim to this pioneering role: Since 1880, the narrowest narrow-gauge railroad in Europe has connected the cantonal capital of Liestal with Waldenburg.
The Waldenburg Railway has belonged to BLT since April 2016 - and BLT has big plans for the small railroad: the first unmanned interurban railroad in Europe is to operate in the Waldenburg Valley. It's a long journey until then, once again fueled by an enormous pioneering spirit.
The rolling stock and rail network are now getting on in years and need to be renewed. And: the old 75-centimetre narrow-gauge line will make way for the standardized metre gauge. The conversion work on the entire line is scheduled to last until 2022 and includes both the rails and trains as well as the modernization of all stops. Waldenburg will also have a new railroad station with a shopping facility for the local population and modern workshops and depots.
Throughout the construction period, BLT will keep the population from Liestal to Waldenburg informed twice a year with an information magazine. Crbasel is responsible for the concept and design. The layout of the magazine reflects both the nostalgic charm of the "Waldenburgerli" and the modernity of the new railroad. The premiere of the "Line 19" magazine is already hot off the press, and the second issue is in preparation.
