Kampaweb: Solidarity campaign polarizes

As part of Solidar Suisse’s current campaign, over 300 booing videos have been submitted so far, and yesterday—Wednesday—more boos were recorded from passersby at Paradeplatz. The call to boo Sepp Blatter has sparked some controversy on the Facebook fan page.

With the interactive booing campaign, Solidar Suisse gave its supporters the opportunity to express their displeasure at FIFA's lack of commitment to a fair World Cup in a playful and personal way. To date, more than 300 booing videos have already been collected and over 1,700 people have supported the booing campaign. The call to boo Sepp Blatter is not without controversy on Solidar's Facebook fan page. The comments ranged from "Great action" to "If you're going to criticize others, then please do it with dignity... Booing is disrespectful." "Good actions polarize", the agency said about the campaign.

Solidar Suisse has also been able to make itself heard in the media in recent days. Last week, Alexandre Mariéthoz was a guest on Radio Télévision Suisse's Infrarouge program and the day before yesterday, Solidar Suisse Director Esther Maurer appeared on SRF's Club. Shortly before the start of the World Cup, Solidar Suisse is inviting people to a goal donation game. Supporters choose their favorite team, specify the donation amount per goal and submit this information together with their address details. The amount due will be calculated at the end of the World Cup.

Solidar campaign manager Fabienne Widmer likes football and has mixed feelings about the World Cup: "I will also be watching the World Cup matches and cheering them on. It would have been nice if FIFA had seized the opportunity and made the World Cup a celebration for everyone. But we're staying on the ball - for the tournaments in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022), which are also under a bad star."

Responsible at Solidar Suisse: Eva Geel (Head of Campaigns & Communication). Responsible at Kampaweb: Andreas Freimüller (concept), Adrian Mahlstein (project management).
