Year of Advertising: Two Swiss agencies among the winners
The advertising industry celebrated the Megaphone Awards and the 50th anniversary of the yearbook. Two Swiss agencies were among the winners: Agentur am Flughafen and Vizner Borel.
The Jahr der Werbung (formerly Jahrbuch der Werbung) JDW kicked off the 2013 advertising year with a lavish party at Radialsystem V in Berlin. Around 350 guests celebrated the award winners, the handover of the editors' baton and the 50th anniversary of the yearbook. The Megaphones were awarded in gold, silver and bronze for the first time, according to a JDW press release.
The agency at the airport was named "Best in the sector: Recruiting, employee communication (B2B)" for the "Attention, risk of entanglement" campaign for the Swiss Textile Federation. Vizner Borel received the "Best in the Telecommunications Industry (B2C)" award. This was for the two films "Windkanal Internet" and "Straw Crazy Deal" for UPC Cablecom.
The big winner of the evening was the Heimat agency. The creative forge scooped a total of six megaphones and was named Agency of the Year for the third time. Oliver Voss was crowned Newcomer Agency of the Year 2012. In the agency ranking, second place was taken by Kolle Rebbe, third by Serviceplan and fourth by Ogilvy&Mather.

Advertising year
All the winners and the industry comparison are presented in the Year of Advertising book, Volume 50, which will be published by Econ Verlag in April 2013. In addition to the campaigns of the winning agencies and the other carefully selected competition entries, the most important developments and campaigns of the past advertising year are presented. The comprehensive compendium documents advertising activity in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. According to a press release, it is intended to reflect the breadth of the communications industry.
