Republica Acquires Maxomedia—A Merger with a Focus on the Future
Republica Acquires Maxomedia: In August 2026, the Bern-based creative agency Republica acquired part of the workforce and the operational business activities of the digital agency Maxomedia. After nearly 30 years as a fixture in the Bernese and Swiss agency landscape, the digital agency Maxomedia had ceased operations as an independent company. According to Republica, the acquisition creates an expanded team designed to combine creative excellence with digital intelligence.
The employees who have joined the company also include the two former Maxomedia owners, Simon Muster and Bernhard Herzig. As of September 1, they have joined the Republica board—Muster as the future Chief Strategy Officer and Herzig as Chief Digital Officer. According to the press release, this move opens up new opportunities for both the Maxomedia core team and existing clients.

A Long-Standing Partnership as the Foundation
Republica and Maxomedia have a long-standing partnership. The two agencies have already supported each other on various joint projects, such as the relaunch of new web platforms for the Federal Statistical Office, the rebranding and website relaunch for the IHKB, and projects for clients including PK SAV, Swiss LiveCom Association EXPO EVENT, Sportgastro, and the SCB. The merger, which has now been completed, builds on this foundation.
Bala Trachsel, CEO and founder of Republica, comments on the acquisition: «Adaptive companies need partners that are both established and agile—in other words, partners that react quickly, innovate boldly, and act in a future-proof manner. By combining Republica’s creative excellence with Maxomedia’s technological expertise, we’re optimally uniting proven stability with forward-looking innovation.» Simon Muster adds: «Republica shares the same values as Maxomedia and seeks both differentiation and excitement. By combining our companies» core competencies with a strong focus on AI, we will inspire and build lasting loyalty among both existing and new clients.”
AI Expertise and Digital Platforms as New Priorities
Current Maxomedia employees are set to work alongside Republica’s existing digital team to expand the company’s offerings and services in the areas of AI technology and digital platforms. According to the company, they will contribute expertise particularly in the areas of communication with AI services, LLM, bot development, and process consulting related to AI. In addition, existing digital platforms and applications will continue to be maintained.
Republica is thus positioning itself as a strategic creative agency offering solutions in branding, campaigning, social media, and live experiences—with an even stronger focus on digital and AI solutions in the future. The company’s internal motto sums up its direction: «Down to Earth. To the Stars.»
Since acquiring the Maxomedia team, Republica has grown to about 30 employees. The company has been operating in Bern for 25 years and serves clients such as SC Bern, Regionalverkehr Bern Solothurn, Jungfrau Top of Europe, Berner Kantonalbank, Pro Juventute, and Sanacare.
