New building: Namics inaugurates new think tank in St. Gallen

The digital agency Namics inaugurates its new office building in St. Gallen in September after around two years of construction. It is located at Unterstrasse 12 - in the center of the city.

The office offers 250 employees sufficient space for the interdisciplinary development of new digital projects on approximately 3,300 square meters. The building project is being financed and implemented by ASGA Pensionskasse Genossenschaft, Switzerland's largest independent joint pension fund. With the new building, Namics is investing in its founding location in St.Gallen, thereby underlining its commitment as a long-term employer in the region.

Roland Schönholzer, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Partner at Namics: "St. Gallen is one of the most attractive business locations in Switzerland - not least because of its successful location development. At Namics, we want to do our part to strengthen the region and sharpen its digital focus. To this end, we are not only investing in a larger office building, but also in numerous initiatives, such as Digital Switzerland and IT St. Gallen rocks."

Bernd Schopp, CEO and Partner at Namics: "St.Gallen is the cradle of Namics' culture; not only was the company born here, but everything that distinguishes it was also defined here. You could say: our genetic code is particularly pronounced in St. Gallen and was carried from here to all locations. St. Gallen offers an excellent environment for further developing Namics as a full-service digital agency. For example, we can use the proximity to the University of St.Gallen and the technical universities to inspire and attract new talent to our work."

New building as a mirror of Namics culture

The design by the architecture firm Arge Menn Ammann represents the transparent culture of the digital agency. This promotes the individual skills of the individual and, at the same time, interdisciplinary collaboration in the team. This is also reflected in the open and flexible spatial structure, which creates the conditions for creative and professional processes within the team. The division of the floors turns the office into a "think tank" for the digital projects of tomorrow with generously sized meeting, innovation and exchange areas. With these modern workplaces, Namics also wants to convince new talents of itself as an employer.

Brief outline of the building history

Ten years ago, it was already apparent that St.Gallen would need a new office building. In the search for suitable properties, Namics was supported above all by the city. It ceded the land in the historic embroidery district under building rights and provided assistance during construction. For the new building at Unterstrasse 12, Namics initiated an architectural competition in 2013. Of the six participating offices, Arge Menn Ammann was able to assert itself with its design. It fits seamlessly into the existing buildings and reflects the DNA of Namics. The project, for which ground was broken in fall 2015, was implemented and financed by ASGA Pensionskasse Genossenschaft. The approximately 190 employees will move in mid-September.
