Blue Cross believes surprise success is possible

Although all the major parties oppose the cantonal initiative «Against Alcohol Advertising in Sports,» the initiators from the Blue Cross believe a surprise victory is possible—and accuse their opponents of misleading voters with their campaign.

The Zurich Cantonal Association for Sport is using dubious claims to promote a "no" vote at the ballot box, criticized the Blue Cross in a press release on Thursday. The radical tone and intimidation campaign are incomprehensible. The association had described the initiative as a "killer for club sport" because clubs could not survive without sponsors. Blue Cross Zurich also describes these statements as misleading. Managing Director Stephan Kunz emphasizes in the press release that accepting the initiative would certainly free up advertising space in the sports environment. However, these spaces would also be attractive for alcohol-free advertising. The initiators do not believe that sports clubs could have problems filling the gaps.

Only the EDU recommends a Yes vote

All major parties voted against the absolute ban on alcohol advertising in the sports environment. The EPP decided to abstain from voting. Only the EDU advocated a Yes vote. The bill can therefore be described as unpromising. However, the Blue Cross is convinced that many voters disagree with the parties. As proof, it cites an online survey conducted by the market research institute Isopublic, which the Blue Cross itself conducted in
had commissioned.

Poll predicts 56 percent of votes in favor

According to this survey, the initiative would have received around 56% of votes in favor at the beginning of April. 34.5 percent of those surveyed would have "definitely" accepted the proposal, while a further 21.9 percent would have "very probably" approved it. It is particularly interesting to note that 45% of these "yes" voters are members of a sports club, writes the Blue Cross. 1,000 voters were surveyed for the poll. (SDA)
