Four men and two women win the Swiss Press Awards 2019
The Reinhardt von Graffenried Foundation has announced the winners of this year's Swiss Press Awards. The awards went to four men and two women from different regions of Switzerland.

In the print category, French-speaking Swiss journalist Camille Krafft won the prize with her text "Le système Constantin" about the president of FC Sion. The article appeared in Le Matin Dimanche. For her six-page portrait, Krafft had not stopped at the Valais emperor according to the Swiss Press Award website. In the meantime, Krafft works at the newspaper 24heures.
Zurich-based Florian Imbach, an editor at SRF Rundschau, was awarded in the video category. His contribution on Swiss television appeared under the title "The best friend - a police informer". It deals with a woman who is wrongly accused of child abuse. In the end, however, the case against the woman is dropped.
Rahel Walser, editor of Radio SRF in Basel, was honored as a radio journalist. Her contribution was called "Expensive Misdirected Incentives in the Health Care System", a research about the "commercialized health care system".
Pierre Pistoletti from Cath.ch won in the online category. With "The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" he investigated sexual abuse in the church. Through interviews and testimonies on video, Pistoletti dared to ask the essential question: "What are the structural causes of the church that encourage abuse in it?", says the website.
The winner of the Swiss Press Local Award is Alessandro Bertellotti from Origlio TI with "The Man on the Train" on RSi (Radiotelevisione svizzera). The feature is about an African from Mali who hid on a train before entering Switzerland and died when he came into contact with the power line.
The title "Swiss Photographer of the Year" was awarded to Stefan Bohrer from Basel (View) with the image of a column of smoke over the Basel harbor area (Werbewoche.ch reported). The photojournalist was on the scene of the fire at the container terminal before the police cordoned off the area. This is how the picture was taken with teenagers staring spellbound at the column of smoke in the background (see picture below).
The Fondation Reinhardt von Graffenried awards were presented on Wednesday evening in Bern. They are endowed with 20,000 Swiss francs each per category - print, online, radio and video, local journalism and photography. The six honorees also received the Diamond for outstanding work. (SDA)
