"UBS Kids Cup" wins the Sponsoring Excellence Award

The "UBS Kids Cup" is the best sponsorship project of the past year. Those responsible for the project were presented with the 5th Sponsoring Excellence Award by Sponsoring Switzerland on Thursday evening during the Night of Sponsoring at the Kunsthaus Zurich. Five other projects were honored with special prizes and the first-ever Audience Award.

The "UBS Kids Cup" is the most successful youth sports project in Switzerland. A triathlon consisting of a 60 m sprint, long jump and ball throw encourages children between the ages of 7 and 15 to develop the basic forms of movement that are fundamental to all sports. Through local competitions, the kids qualify for the Swiss final at Letzigrund Stadium, which takes place after the legendary Weltklasse Zürich athletics meeting. UBS and Swiss Athletics have created a 365-day platform that makes athletics more successful in the long term and raises the reputation of UBS in all regions of Switzerland to a new level. Over 1.7 million kids and millions of adults have become part of the community since the launch in 2011.

The initiative by Weltklasse Zürich and Swiss Athletics has become the largest national platform for young talent and popular sports. It has permanently changed Swiss athletics and also the reputation of UBS," says Urs Wyss, jury president of the Sponsoring Excellence Award and member of the board of Sponsoring Switzerland, in recognition of the winning project.

Four special prizes and an audience award

The eight-member independent jury scrutinized all 23 projects submitted, paying particular attention to the criteria of innovation, relevance, creativity and impact. As in the previous year, many projects achieved high scores, which led to four special prizes being awarded to BKW, Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd, Die Mobiliar and BLS.
