In his laudation, Klaus-Peter Nicolay, Editor-in-Chief of the Print Market SwitzerlandOn behalf of the jury, he congratulated the winners of the awards and the large number of entries. Even the works that did not win awards were not poor printed matter, but cleanly produced works that perhaps only lacked the sparkling idea, some originality or the coherence of the overall appearance beyond today's usual standard, said Nicolay.

Printed matter is more appealing, eventful, transformable, diverse and high-quality than any other medium. Print offers orientation, appreciation, individuality, exclusivity, sustainability, loyalty, passion, inspiration and entertainment. In short, print is a permanent fixture in the media mix and appeals to all the senses as an impulse generator for all types of communication.

Agencies, publishers, printers, finishers and bookbinders demonstrated this with their imaginative print products at the "Swiss Print Award 2018" competition and vividly demonstrated how attractive printed paper can be. And thus "whets the appetite for print".

About the Swiss Print Award

The origin of the award is the "Druckmarkt-Award" launched in 2004 by the trade magazine "Druckmarkt Schweiz". Its intention was to find out whether Swiss printers and creatives are the proverbial cobblers with crooked lasts or whether they whet the appetite for printed matter. In 2013, the competition was relaunched and renamed the "Swiss Print Award," to which anyone involved in a print product can submit the corresponding print product. The "Swiss Print Award" honors work that "whets the appetite for print," that confirms and strengthens the importance of print in the media mix, and that encourages potential clients to use print media. It does not matter what is printed, how much, or in what form, size or technology. However, the work must have been used in the previous calendar year as image advertising, for marketing, sales support or as a publication. The sponsors of the "Swiss Print Award" are the trade magazines Druckmarkt Schweiz, Swiss Print & Communication, Werbewoche, the Alliance of Swiss Advertising Agencies (ASW) and Papyrus Switzerland.
