Swiss film music composers nominated for Music + Sound Award
Following the worldwide success of the Oscar-nominated short film "La Femme et le TGV" starring Jane Birkin, its soundtrack has now been nominated for the international Music + Sound Award. The music was composed by the Baldenweg sibling trio from Switzerland.
With the commitment of legendary actress Jane Birkin, the short film project "La Femme et le TGV" by director Timo von Gunten was under a lucky star from the very beginning. The involvement of the Baldenweg siblings as composers for the film music was also a good choice by the young producers. The charming, French-style short film garnered much applause, traveled around the world thanks to multiple invitations from international festivals and won countless audience and critics' awards. The successful blend of whimsical poetry and solid craftsmanship also won over the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and helped the film to a prestigious Oscar nomination this year.
Now the film music has also been nominated for an international award - the prestigious Music +Sound Award in the category "best original composition - short film score".
The short film is about an elderly, lonely woman who finds new stability in her life through a pen pal relationship with an unknown train driver.
The film music was created in close collaboration with the director Timo von Gunten. It is an intimate, bittersweet and at the same time enchantingly fresh musical composition which was played and recorded in Prague with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The orchestral film music emphasizes the emotional journey of the protagonist on her lonely search for love and security.
"We are very pleased that after the already huge success of this film, we have now also been recognized especially for the music. We feel very honored to be nominated for the internationally renowned Music+Sound Award," says the Baldenwegs.
The three siblings are currently working on the soundtrack for Rolf Lyssy's new film "Die letzte Pointe", which will be released in cinemas this fall.
