The new visual identity of the Montforter Zwischentöne cultural festival in Feldkirch has been honored with the 2026 Red Dot Award in the «Brand Design & Identity» category. The concept and creative direction were developed by Liechtenstein-based brand consultant Leone Ming, while Maria Marega handled the art direction and design.
Montfort's Nuances: Making Visible What Lies in Between
At the heart of the new brand identity is the question of how to make visible what lies between the notes. Rather than a purely graphic redesign, Leone Ming and Maria Marega say they developed a visual identity that captures the festival’s core concept and translates it into a distinct design system.
Colored dots from the spaces in between
The starting point is the Montforter Zwischentöne word mark. Colored dots and geometric shapes emerge from its spaces, constantly rearranging themselves across various media. According to the press release, the visual identity combines a clear design system with a playful visual language. It is used on posters, lanyards, and other communication materials, among other things.
«We didn’t just want to give the festival a new look; we wanted to bring its core concept to life,» Creative Director Leone Ming is quoted as saying in the press release. «The exciting thing about the Montfort Nuances is precisely what emerges between the individual elements. From this, we developed a visual language that Maria Marega brought to life creatively and with great design precision.»
The project was commissioned by the Montforter Zwischentöne Festival in Feldkirch, represented by marketing manager Noah Vinzens.
