Epica Day 2: Gold for TBWA\Zurich and more Swiss Awards
The second day of the Epica Awards saw the second Swiss gold - and numerous other pyramids.
TBWA is not the only agency to enjoy awards from Amsterdam. In the "Public Interest - Environment" category, Serviceplan wins silver with client Sea Shepherd. The campaign, which uses clever media to make marine animals (almost) disappear, was submitted and judged in the newspaper version.

At the end of the second jury day, it was still enough for Swiss gold number two. In the "Print Craft" category, TBWA\Zurich won gold with "50 Years of Big Mac," and silver in "Illustration.
Cavalcade also won silver. As in the previous year, the Geneva-based agency secured the second highest award in the "Media - Print" category with a campaign for the medium Sept.Info.
The Swedish agency Akestam Holst NoA won gold in this category with a campaign for Pressbyan/Experessen - the message: It is important that the media show the whole, unadulterated picture and do not withhold important facts from the reader.
Ruf Lanz can be pleased about the second and third silver pyramid. The campaign with the Sado-Maso animals for the foundation Tier im Recht wins precious metal in the category "Public Interest: Social - Print". There Joe La Pomp, the world's most accomplished advertising plagiarism expert, sits on the Epica preliminary jury (which is responsible for the shortlist), the grand jury is shown the comparative campaigns in cases of suspicion. There have been campaigns showing animals wearing leather masks - but the jury found that the context and message is so different that it doesn't matter.
Gold in this category went to Danish agency Hjaltelin Stahl, which mobilizes against torture for Amnesty International. "Tortured Signature" shows the signatures of English officer Guy Fawkes - before torture and after, when he signed his own death warrant.
Ruf Lanz also won silver in the category "Restaurants, Bars & Cafés - Print", in which the Zurich agency with Hiltl almost traditionally competes against exclusively McDonald's campaigns. The "Peaceful hunting season" convinced the jury.
Ruf Lanz also wins three bronze medals on the second day. In the category "Recreation & Leisure - Print" the agency is successful with the calendar artworks for the Museum Haus Konstruktiv, in the category "Illustration" with the Power Point landscapes for the seminar hotel Hof de Planis. In "Advertising Photography", the Welti-Furrer art transport campaign provides bronze number three after yesterday's silver on Tuesday.
Notch Interactive also received an Epica Award. The agency won bronze in the "Communication & Public Services - Print" category with its "CKW - More than Electricity" campaign.
