The Epica Awards settle down in Amsterdam

After years of "creative nomadism", the Epica Awards seem to have found a home in Amsterdam.

The Epica Awards will be presented for the 33rd time in November 2019. Epica is the only creative competition in the world whose jury is made up exclusively of representatives from specialist media in the fields of advertising and marketing. In addition to international industry heavyweights such as Adweek, Campaign or Lürzer's archive has always taken the Advertising Week The jury meets every year and spends three days evaluating campaigns from all over the world.

This year's jury president is Fiona Rogers (pictured below), Chief Operating Officer of Magnum Photos, a photo agency founded in 1947.

After early eras in which the Epica Awards were held in Paris, years of nomadism followed: a different city was chosen each year to host the jury meeting and award ceremony. In addition to Berlin, Amsterdam has emerged as a particularly grateful host in recent years: the city is seen as the new creative center of Europe, offers a huge agency, design and art scene and an infrastructure that has won over the organizers.

As in the previous year, the awards will therefore be presented at the Royal Tropical Institute. The historic building already provided a worthy setting for the awards and the subsequent after-party in 2018. The jury will once again meet in the equally historic Hotel Arena, just a few minutes' walk away, which used to serve as a monastery and hospital, among other things, and now surprises with its design furnishings.

Those responsible for Epica presented further news about the creative competition at the traditional jury lunch during Cannes Lions. For example, the "Creative Use of Data" category was relaunched. In addition, the crew around Editorial Director Mark Tungate presented the new Epica advertising campaign. This year, it was created by the Amsterdam agency Hecho Studios.

The Advertising Week will once again report on the Epica Awards in 2019 and announce all Swiss winners. Entries can be submitted from now until October 7, 2019 and benefit from a reduced entry fee until August 31.
