ADC Switzerland awards four Gold and two Evergreen in 2018

The ADC Awards 2018 were presented at the ADC Gala in Oerlikon on Saturday. Gold went to Hinderling Volkart and D One, Rod, Y&R and Walker, while Havas and Ruf Lanz received an Evergreen.

The leading creatives in the Swiss communications industry have given their verdict. This year's Creative Week, which was held in cooperation with the Zurich University of the Arts in the Toni-Areal, once again provided the setting. The program with world-class speakers such as Stefan Sagmeister, Jonathan Lee from Google, rock guitarist Henning Rümenapp from the Guano Apes, Zélia Sakhi, the master forger Wolfgang Beltracchi, the people photographer Andres Herren and many more inspired students and the professional audience alike.

At the same time, the annual judging of the Art Directors Club Switzerland, the Swiss championship of creative communication, was held over two days. The ADC considers it an extremely positive sign that the number of agencies and clients submitting entries shot up from 79 to a record 94, including numerous freelancers and individuals.

Under the direction of ADC Switzerland President Frank Bodin, a total of 134 jurors assessed hundreds of works in 18 categories and first shortlisted and then awarded bronze. Silver and gold were then awarded on the second day by 25 jurors, including guest of honor Viktor Giacobbo. The importance of creativity in the digital society was also a topic of discussion. ADC President Frank Bodin commented: "The new technological achievements such as big data, programmatic advertising, blockchain, etc. fascinate us all - nevertheless, the discussion about content and quality of communication must not be forgotten. Without creativity, no culture. Without creativity, no future. Creativity is and remains the capital of mankind."

A judging is always also an assessment and a creative process. The best works are beacons that clients and young creative talents can look to for guidance. Looking at the 2017 vintage, there are numerous outstanding works at an international level: 13 silver, 4 gold and 2 evergreen (which are judged as gold) are the result of the 2017 Communication Industry Awards. In addition, there is the "Student of the Year" award, which this year goes to Miriam Brack for her work "That Way to the Left".

In the category Illustration "Thread Portraits", Client: Reallook / Selfnation, Illustrator: Petros Vrellis, Agency: Y&R Group Switzerland

The thread portraits are fascinating at first glance; using an algorithm, the artist Petros Vrellis transformed photographs into portraits of interlinked lines, which he stretched onto a frame with just one 6,500-meter-long thread.

The Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Agency: Havas

For eleven years, the ZKO's award-winning campaigns have shown that communication for a classical orchestra must be anything but outdated and can evoke "great emotions" in line with the claim.

Bank Coop was replaced by Bank Cler last year, but the "fair" advertising for Bank Coop for 15 years remains unforgotten.
