Out for OMD Zollikerberg
In addition, Jürg Aemmer will become CD of the Zurich branch of Euro RSCG on February 1. He takes over from Jeremy Rawle. Web AD Patman, alias Patrick Spahr, has left the Internet agency RØSA. Since January 1, 2002
OMD Optimum Media Direction AG, known as OMD Zollikerberg, has filed a petition for bankruptcy with the Meilen District Court. The media agency is threatened with over-indebtedness, for which Chairman Herbert Seiler gives two reasons in a letter to the creditors: Firstly, OMD Zollikerberg took over the media business of Seiler DDB AG on January 1, 2001 at the urging of the network. However, no investor was found for the bridge financing of this transfer when OMD Europe was no longer able to commit itself financially after September 11. Secondly, a former senior employee of OMD Zollikerberg had single-handedly engaged in large-scale speculation contrary to the business guidelines. Seiler emphasizes, however, that the 2001 operating business year was basically successful.
OMD Zürich AG, which operates under the same label but is completely independent of OMD Zollikerberg in terms of personnel, legal and financial terms, will take over international customers and staff from OMD Zollikerberg. To this end, OMD Zürich AG has been restructured and divided into three autonomous units: "OMD Zürich See", the former OMD Zürich, "OMD Zürich City", where the majority of customers and employees from Zollikerberg will be accommodated, and "OMD Genève", based in Nyon. OMD Zürich AG is expected to be renamed OMD Schweiz AG in the foreseeable future.
"We are pursuing a forward strategy in this way," explains Peter Kettiger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMD Zürich AG, "the restructuring will enable us to pick up the international customers from Zollikerberg." Organizationally, the formation of the three units is complete, but OMD Zurich City still lacks its own premises. The Managing Directors of the three units are Luise Diem (OMD Zürich See), Christophe Waeber (OMD Zürich
City) and Sébastien Fabby (OMD Genève) (ba).
