Prelude of the Volvo Art Session at the HB Zurich
About 200 invited guests celebrated the opening of the Volvo Art Session 2015 on Wednesday evening. The highlight was a performance by French speed painter Franck Bouroullec.
The official Swiss launch of the new Volvo XC90, which was framed by a tron dance performance of the Slovenian dance crew "The Pastels" and moderated by brand ambassador Melanie Winiger, rounded off the opening event. Over the next few days, passers-by at the main station will witness interactive art performances by various Swiss urban artists.
The Volvo Art Session is already taking place for the fifth time. Special this year: For the first time, all artists are from Switzerland. The only exotic was the star guest of the vernissage - the speed painter Franck Bouroullec. The Frenchman with rock star status realized a work of art in a very short time, which he painted on his head as usual. The full splendor of the work was thus revealed to the viewers only at the end, after turning it upside down.
In addition to urban art, Scandinavian craftsmanship is also in the foreground at this year's Volvo Art Session: The Swedish automaker's flagship, the new Volvo XC90, was presented to the attending guests on the opening evening with a brilliant light and dance show. During the entire Art Session, the Volvo XC90 can be experienced live by all visitors on site in a specially prepared exhibition "Cube".
The Volvo Art Session once again transforms Zurich's main train station into an oversized urban art studio for four days. Three virtuoso Swiss urban art collectives stage a Volvo XC90 over and over again with unique live art performances. The start is on Thursday between 8.00 and 20.00 clock the duo Ben & Julia. On Friday are the Ticino artist duo Nevercrew and the street artist Chromeo from Winterthur. As a crowning finale, three local artists will perform on Saturday: Harun "Shark" Dogan, Ata Bozaci and Pius Portman.
