Angelink stages "Glass" yoke for Yourposition
To mark the 10th anniversary of Yourposition, Angelink received a partner gift from Google; each team member was given a pair of Google Glass. At least, that’s how a YouTube video produced by Angelink portrayed the situation.
The high-tech glasses, which until now only American developers have been able to get their hands on for a proud sum of 1,500 dollars, were quickly printed and produced by the dozen by the search engine marketing agency Angelink using a 3D printer. Thanks to Yourposition's imaginative actors, the reportage-like film turned into a credible account of experiences from the agency's own offices and public spaces, the agency said in a press release. The story was presented so credibly that pretty much everyone fell for it.
The aim of the joke was to draw the attention of the qualified public to the milestone anniversary and at the same time offer insights into the new premises in the Noerd building in Oerlikon and the happy faces of the team. "We thought that the hoax would only last two or three days at most," says Jokemaster Markus Gabriel from Angelink. In fact, there were people who, even weeks later, believed the video more than the Sunday newspaper that reported the fake. The video has generated well over 20,000 views to date.
