Ad Novum: Swiss App for Expo 2012
Switzerland is presenting itself at Expo 2012, which opened last Saturday in South Korea, with its own pavilion and an exhibition on the subject of water entitled "The Source. It's in your hands". A mobile application makes Switzerland's presence a virtual experience.
The Zurich-based software company Ad Novum has implemented this for Presence Switzerland in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) as part of a sponsorship mandate. The "Swiss Game Yeosu" app offers a quiz game: flying silhouette motifs must be clicked on in the app in order to take part in the quiz and obtain information for the quiz questions. The app also offers augmented reality for the give-away, a printed drinking bowl. If you hold your cell phone over the print on the drinking bowl, it recognizes the motifs depicted, such as a clock, a chamois or a train, and a pop-up appears that provides information on the respective motif theme.
The "Swiss Game Yeosu" app is bilingual - Korean and English - and is available for both iPhone and Android. The Metaio framework was used for the augmented reality functions. The concept for the app comes from Tegoro Solutions, the design from Hauser, Schwarz.
