Restraint GTI

In Denmark, DDB organized a special race between the Golf GTI, Polo GTI, and Up! GTI models.

Traditionally, the 0-100km/h mark is the home of VW's GTI family. Apparently there is already an Up! GTI today. It generates 115 hp from a 1.0-liter engine. That's enough for around 8.8 seconds from 0-100 - the economy car is thus even slightly faster than the original Golf GTI in its first version in 1976. A Golf GTI today needs just over six seconds to reach the 100 km/h mark, depending on the version.

DDB in Denmark shows that this "magic" figure is not everything. The agency organized a race between the GTI versions of the VW Golf, Polo and Up! models. The catch: whoever accelerated to 100 the slowest won. The prerequisite was, of course, that the car accelerated steadily. This was actually a very original idea - with a logical explanation: if you have a GTI under your butt, you have more trouble accelerating slowly than quickly. That makes perfect sense. (hae)
