Last but not least: Too much entertainment on China's television

According to the Chinese government, television airs too many entertainment shows. As a result, the number of entertainment and reality shows on satellite channels is to be strictly limited.

The order mainly affects "excessively entertaining" programs such as talent, talk and game shows as well as marriage and reality programs. The action is part of the ruling Communist Party's efforts to regain control of the cultural industry. The criticized programs will be replaced by news and cultural programs starting next year. The aim is to boost morale and promote China's cultural influence abroad.

What influence a news and cultural system controlled by the Chinese government should have abroad is not asked at this point.
