Last but not least: Wikipedia defends itself against censorship
The French secret service has intervened against the online encyclopaedia because of an article on Wikipedia that was allegedly a security threat. The article was then translated into numerous languages.
According to SDA, the article has been widely circulated on the Internet. By Monday, Wikipedia users had already created versions of the article in 16 different languages. The article is about the Pierre-sur-Haute military transmitter, around 90 kilometers west of Lyon. According to SDA, this had been criticized by the French domestic intelligence service DCRI. According to Wikipedia, there are fears for national security there.
According to its own statements, the foundation rejected unsubstantiated demands for changes as censorship. The information used on the site is publicly accessible.
For example, the Wikipedia user learns: "If French nuclear weapons were to be used, the launch order could be relayed via this station." (uma)
